Brummer stänger butiken för f.d. Goldman-stjärnorna

Stockholm (HedgeFonder.nu) – Brummer lämnar Event Driven-fonden Benros genom att Brummer Multi-Strategy säljer sina andelar i fonden efter mindre än två år.

Det var i spåren av de stora investmentbankernas beslut att stänga ner sina egna tradingverksamheter, som flera tidigare framgångsrika förvaltarteam plötsligt stod till arbetsmarknadens förfogande. Brummer & Partners beslutade då att rekrytera duon Daniele Benatoff och Ariel Roskos, som då hade lämnat Goldman Sachs. Förväntningarna på teamet var höga och man utstrålade stor självsäkerhet, men redan från början gick det trögt. Benatoff bekräftar i ett e-mail till Bloomberg att fonden stängs, men vill inte kommentera ytterligare.

Brummer tog 45 procents ägarandel i den då nystartade fonden Benros och garanterade 300 miljoner USD i startkapital. Sedan fondens start i juni 2011 till januari 2013 har Benros avkastning dock varit allt annat än lysande, nedgången summerar till -7,0%. Bloomberg rapporterar att den genomsnittliga avkastningen för event driven-fonder +8,9% under 2012, enligt data från Chicago-baserade Hedge Fund Research Inc.

I en kommentar skriver man: ”-Brummer Multi-Strategy har beslutat att avyttra sitt innehav i fonden Benros Event Driven & Opportunistic Fund Limited då fondens avkastning inte levt upp till förväntningarna.”

Brummer Multi-Strategys allokering till Benros har varit oförändrad sedan fondstart. Under de 20 månader som fonden har investerat i Benros har dess bidrag till Brummer Multi-Strategys avkastning varit -0,5 procentenheter (per den 31 januari 2013).

Som HedgeFonder.nu tidigare rapporterat har man en tid ställt sig frågan hur länge Brummers tålamod skulle räcka – uppenbarligen var måttet nu rågat.
