Danske Bank AM Claims Top Honor as Nykredit Wins Fixed Income

Nordic managers were strongly represented at this year’s EuroHedge Awards, sweeping the nominations in the Fixed Income category. With the entire “Fixed Income” field dominated by Nordic funds, at least one manager from the region was guaranteed to walk away with a trophy. While Nykredit Mira III ultimately claimed the award in that category, the biggest highlight for the Nordics at the March 5 ceremony in London was Danske Bank Asset Management being named “Management Firm of the Year.”

“This award is a testament to the strong results our absolute return strategies delivered last year and a recognition of the hard work our portfolio managers dedicate on behalf of our clients,” says Thomas Otbo, CIO at Danske Bank Asset Management. Absolute return strategies form a significant part of the asset manager’s alternative investment offering and represent a strategic focus area within its broader portfolio solutions. “In recent years, we have expanded our offering within alternatives, ranging from absolute return strategies to private equity, private credit and infrastructure, while significantly increasing our total assets under management,” Otbo adds.

Another Nordic winner on the night was Nykredit Mira III, which employs a relative-value strategy to invests in fixed-income instruments with a focus on Danish mortgage bonds. The hedge fund was named “Best Performing European Hedge Fund Manager in Fixed Income,” in a category made up entirely of Nordic nominees. “We are honored to have been recognized at the With Intelligence EuroHedge Awards 2025 as the best performing manager in Fixed Income – an award we also received in 2018,” comments the team at Nykredit Asset Management.

Nykredit Mira III was among the top ten best-performing hedge funds in the Nordic hedge fund industry last year. In 2025, the fund delivered a return of 26.45 percent with a Sharpe ratio of 4.49, “showcasing the results of our dedicated investment approach,” says the team. “Thank you to With Intelligence for this recognition and to our investors for their continued trust. We look forward to building on this success and continuing to deliver strong results.”

The EuroHedge Awards recognize the strongest performers in the European hedge fund industry on a risk-adjusted basis. Nominees and winners are selected through a quantitative process combining Sharpe ratios with absolute returns, reflecting the two core objectives of hedge fund investing: managing volatility while delivering positive returns.
