Ridge Capital Expands Team After Hitting €100 Million Milestone

Powering Hedge Funds

Stockholm (HedgeNordic) – With its unconventional high-yield bond strategy now exceeding €100 million in assets under management, Ridge Capital is expanding its portfolio management team with the addition of Constantijn Huigen as a portfolio analyst. Formerly a shorting specialist at an equity market-neutral hedge fund under Nordea Asset Management, Huigen joins Ridge Capital from Brummer & Partners, where he was part of the team managing a tech-focused strategy for Brummer Multi-Strategy.

“We are excited to announce that we have now completed the recruitment of a new portfolio analyst with an impressive CV and market expertise,” announces Måns Levin, the CEO and Founding Partner of Ridge Capital. “He will join us after the summer to strengthen the investment management team,” adds Levin, who co-founded the high-yield bond manager in 2022 alongside Christoffer Malmström, CIO and lead portfolio manager of the Northern Yield fund. The duo devised a tailored strategy within a more alternative and flexible structure to capitalize on opportunities in the Nordic high-yield corporate bond market.

After earning his Master’s Degree in Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics, Constantijn Huigen started his investment management career as an analyst at the multi-billion dollar long/short equity fund at Parvus Asset Management in London. After two years in the role, he joined Jakob Nordestedt in Stockholm in late 2019 to launch a market-neutral equity strategy under the umbrella of Nordea Asset Management. In 2022, Huigen joined Brummer & Partners and served as the lead analyst within the five-member team running a $200 million market-neutral TMT pod for Brummer Multi-Strategy.

“While my professional background has been predominantly in long/short equity roles, I believe I am well-positioned to transition to that of a more credit-focused environment.”

“While my professional background has been predominantly in long/short equity roles, I believe I am well-positioned to transition to that of a more credit-focused environment,” says Constantijn Huigen, who will commence his new role at Ridge Capital in September. “We’re thrilled to have Constantijn join the portfolio management team,” lead portfolio manager Christoffer Malmström comments on Huigen joining the team. “His experience and skills will enhance our strategy and drive value for our investors,” adds Malmström. Huigen will join the current four-member team comprising founders Levin and Malmström, alongside Ridge Capital’s Head of Business Development David-Anthony Carenco, and junior analyst Carl Windmar.

Levin and Malmström, longtime friends since their Master’s studies at the Stockholm School of Economics two decades ago, pursued separate career paths in different financial hubs before coming together to establish Ridge Capital. Their mutual goal of launching their venture led to the launch of Ridge Capital’s high-yield bond strategy. With more than 13 years of credit investing experience in London, New York, and Stockholm, Malmström serves as the lead portfolio manager of the high-yield-focused strategy behind Northern Yield. With assets under management exceeding €100 million, Northern Yield has achieved a cumulative net return of 24.3 percent in its first 18 months through mid-2024.
