Stockholm (HedgeNordic) – Following the acquisition of a majority stake by Frendegruppen – a consortium of Norwegian independent banks, Borea Asset Management is strengthening its investment team with the addition of two portfolio managers. The fixed-income-focused boutique welcomes Jon Hille-Walle and Audhild Aabø as equity portfolio managers, as part of plans to expand its fund offerings for the banks’ retail and corporate customers.
“Borea Asset Management is growing strongly, and we are experiencing increased demand for a wider range of mutual funds. Therefore, we are very happy to be able to announce that we are now further strengthening the team with two experienced equity managers,” announces the team at Borea Asset Management. “With the appointment of Jon and Audhild, we look forward to offering more funds to our customers in the future.”

Both Jon Hille-Walle and Audhild Aabø join Borea from Nordea Investment Management. Hille-Walle, who spent the past 19 years as a portfolio manager at Nordea, managed a Norwegian long-only equity fund with a focus on oil services and shipping, and co-managed a global equity fund and institutional clients’ tactical asset allocation portfolios. With nearly nine years at Nordea, seven of which as a portfolio manager, Aabø specialized in consumer and seafood companies and served as a portfolio manager of Nordea Global Diversity Engagement Fund.
A consortium of independent banks within Frendegruppen, Norway’s second-largest banking partnership, has recently agreed to acquire a 70 percent stake in Borea Asset Management. Established 22 years ago, Borea Asset Management has so far specialized in managing capital for professional investors through special funds, particularly in fixed-income products. The firm is now adapting its offerings to appeal to a broader market by expanding its range of mutual funds. The recent appointments of Hille-Walle and Aabø are part of this strategic plan.
