Finansförbundet välkomnar en bankunion

Finansförbundet anser att det är viktigt att banker som missköter sig ska kunna gå under. I dag är det ”too big to fail” som gäller. Det bidrar till att en del banker inlåter sig till alltför spekulativa affärer. När ägarna tvingas ta ett större ansvar för banker som inte sköter sig blir det en viktig signal för hela finansbranschen – något som behövs för att skapa ordning i leden.

Eftersom finansiell verksamhet inte följer några landsgränser måste företagen följa samma regler och rapportera till samma myndighet. Därför ställer sig Finansförbundet positivt till en överstatlig finansinspektion. Enligt förslaget ska denna tillsynsmyndighet byggas upp inom Europeiska Centralbanken (ECB). Men det finns, enligt Finansförbundet, ingen anledning att bygga det som redan finns. Lägg i stället resurser på och utöka mandatet för redan existerande European Banking Authority (EBA) som bildades för några år sedan.
