Visio Allocator Deepens Tech Expertise

Visio Allocator Fund, a Finland-based multi-asset, multi-strategy fund, has strengthened its portfolio management team with the addition of technology specialist John-Axel Stråhlman, who joined as portfolio manager in early May. The appointment supports the fund’s strong focus on the tech sector, which accounts for over half of its net equity exposure.

“The purpose of the appointment is to strengthen Visio’s technology expertise, which is valuable in rapidly changing industries and in the transformation brought by artificial intelligence,” says the Visio team. John-Axel Stråhlman, more familiarly known as Jonne, brings a wealth of experience from the IT sector. He has worked as a software architect on major projects at Nokia, IBM, and Tieto, and has spent the past decade in executive management roles at his family-owned company, Studiotec Oy. “Our team will benefit from Jonne’s strong combination of long-term investment experience and deep technological expertise,” the team adds.

Stråhlman has been investing in the stock market through his own company for more than 25 years. His approach blends disciplined risk management, in-depth company analysis, and a keen ability to identify technological disruptions before they are fully priced into the market. “For me, investing is not about reacting, but about preparing,” says Stråhlman. “The best way to manage risk is to have a deep understanding of where to invest and why. When the groundwork has been done carefully, the return will follow,” he argues. Leveraging technology is also key, according to Stråhlman. “Artificial intelligence can, for example, help analyze competitive dynamics in different industries and extract meaningful insights from large volumes of data, such as interim reports.”

With €91 million in assets under management, Visio Allocator Fund employs a flexible, multi-strategy approach. The fund invests across equities, fixed income, and market-neutral strategies, with a strong focus on capital preservation when the team sees elevated market risks. Following a challenging March, the fund ended April up 1.5 percent, supported by a 6.5 percent return from index hedges and 0.4 percent from market-neutral strategies, which more than offset losses from the long/short equity book.
