Agmentum Capital, the asset manager behind the shipping-focused equity long/short hedge fund Agmentum Maritime, has strengthened its portfolio management team with the appointment of Kostas Theodoropoulos as Portfolio Manager. Based in Greece, Theodoropoulos joins Head of Fund Management and Portfolio Manager Carl Synvis, bringing more than 18 years of portfolio management and trading experience.
“I am delighted to announce that I have recently joined Agmentum Capital as a Portfolio Manager,” Theodoropoulos says. “I am excited to take on this new challenge and to work alongside an experienced and talented team, combining our expertise and ideas to deliver strong results for our investors. I am looking forward to this new chapter and the opportunities ahead.”

Kostas Theodoropoulos
Theodoropoulos brings extensive experience across financial markets, with a particular focus in recent years on maritime shipping investments, including equities, bonds and freight forward agreements (FFAs). He holds a Ph.D. in Shipping Derivatives from the University of Piraeus and has spent much of his career in trading and portfolio management roles.
Before joining Agmentum, Theodoropoulos was a Portfolio Manager at Pavimar S.A. (Alexandria Enterprises), a global ship management company operating a fleet of dry bulk carriers, where he focused on FFAs, equity and debt. He previously spent 10 years at Eurobank in various trading roles, following five and a half years as a fixed-income trader at Hellenic Postbank and a shorter stint as an FX trader at HSBC.
The appointment adds further shipping-market expertise to Agmentum Maritime, the equity long/short hedge fund focused on the maritime sector and the Norway-domiciled continuation of the Irish-domiciled Cleaves Shipping Fund. Synvis has managed the strategy since taking over in mid-2022, during which time the fund has generated an annualized return of approximately 10 percent.
