Fallande råvarupriser gynnar CTAs i juli

This year’s Alternative Fixed Income report from HedgeNordic explores how institutional investors and asset managers are navigating this new reality, balancing yield and resilience amid shifting credit cycles, structural change, and evolving sources of return.

Stockholm (HedgeNordic) – I sin senaste “weekly brief” rapport konstaterar Lyxor att hedgefonder i allmänhet och CTA och Global Macro strategier i synnerhet har levererat starka avkastningssiffror under juli. Lyxors hedgefondindex noterar en uppgång om 1,4 procent på månaden och är därmed upp 3,4 procent sedan årsskiftet.

Enligt Lyxor har den senaste tidens marknadsutveckling varit särskilt gynnsam för CTAs där fallande råvarupriser bidragit till avkastningen. CTAs har ökat sin korta exponering mot ädelmetaller och energi sedan slutet på maj, dessutom har de en lång position i det brittiska pundet mot dollarn. Denna position har utvecklats väl på senare tid mot bakgrund av Bank of Englands alltmer hökaktiga ton, enligt Lyxor.

Long/Short Equity har också utvecklats väl under månaden med stöd av den amerikanska rapportsäsongen. Cykliska konsumentbolag, finansbolag och bolag inom hälsovård har rapporterat i linje med eller över förväntan, det är i dessa sektorer som Long/Short förvaltarna på Lyxors managed account plattform haft den övervägande delen av riskexponeringen.

Den enda strategi som noterar nedgångar på månaden är Event Driven.
