Hedgefonder vidhåller rekordstor tro på högre oljepris

Göteborg (FinWire) – Veckoaktuell data från ICE visar att hedgefonder och andra stora spekulanter håller motsvarande 272 miljoner fat nordsjöolja genom terminer och optioner. Ett färskt rekord i positioneringen för tron på ett högre oljepris.

Den kraftiga ökningen i positioner för en ökning i oljepriset kommer samtidigt som hela branschen är oense om oljans fortsatta utveckling, skriver Financial Times. Många större oljeproducenter har själva gått ut och varnat för att det kan komma att ta tid för oljepriset att återhämta sig, detta då tillgången på olja just nu är god.

Även för WTI-oljan är tron på ett högre oljepris synligt. Data från i fredags visar att fonder äger motsvarande 276 miljoner fat olja genom terminer och optioner och nettopositioneringen för ett högre oljepris är på den högsta nivån sedan i juni 2014.

Brent-oljan stängde i fredags över 65 dollar per fat för första gången i år. Detta efter att så sent som i januari handlats runt 45 dollar per fat.
