Warburg Pincus drar in 4 miljarder dollar till energifond

Göteborg (FinWire) – Warburg Pincus har dragit in 4 miljarder dollar till sin första energifokuserade private equity-fond, vilket var mer än bolagets mål på 3 miljarder dollar. Investeringsfirman blir därmed det senaste i raden som drar nytta av skiffergasboomen i USA. Det rapporterar Reuters.

Tidigare har bland andra Blackstone Group och Apollo Global Management lanserat dedikerade energifonder.

Warburg Pincus nya fond kommer att fokusera primärt på energiutvinning och -produktion och investera i Nordamerika samt övriga världen som Afrika, Asien, Europa och Latinamerika. Fonden kommer också att investera inom olja, oljetjänster, gruvor och kraftsektorn.

Bolaget har redan investerat drygt 9,5 miljarder dollar i fler än 50 energirelaterade bolag runt om i världen sedan 1996.
