Koppar: Produktionsunderskott 135.000 ton i mars

STOCKHOLM (Direkt) Den globala produktionen av koppar understeg efterfrågan med 135.000 ton i mars, efter ett underskott om 95.000 ton i februari.

Säsongsjusterat understeg produktionen efterfrågan med 119.000 ton.

Det skrev International Copper Study Group, ICSG, i ett pressmeddelande på onsdagskvällen.

Den globala användningen beräknas ha ökat med 9 procent under första kvartalet jämfört med samma kvartal 2011.

Uppgången hänvisas till en ökad efterfrågan i Kina, där efterfrågan i Kina steg 32 procent första kvartalet efter att nettoimporten av raffinerat koppar stigit med 99 procent. ICSG noterar dock att jämförelseperioden i nettoimporten var svag, och att det finns indikationer på att den höga importnivån följdes av stora uppgångar i oförtullade lager.

Användningen i de tre andra stora regionerna, EU, USA och Japan, sjönk med 9 procent under januari-mars.

Den globala produktionen av raffinerad koppar steg 3,7 procent under årets tre första månader. Primärproduktionen var upp 3,7 procent medan andrahandsproduktionen, från skrot, ökade med 3,8 procent.

Kapacitetsutnyttjandet var januari-mars cirka 78,4 procent, i stort sett oförändrat från samma period förra året.
