S&P MISSUPPFATTAR EU-STRATEGIN

BRYSSEL (Direkt) Standard & Poor’s nedgradering av nio euroländers kreditbetyg bygger på en “allvarlig missuppfattning” om att EU:s krisstrategi endast går ut på åtstramning.

Det sade kommissionens talesman Olivier Bailly vid en pressbriefing på måndagen.

“Vi har länge förespråkat en tvåsidig strategi med smart budgetkonsolidering och strukturreformer för tillväxt och jobb. Flera länder håller på att genomdriva långtgående reformer”, sade han.

Tidpunkten för nedgraderingen i fredags är också “konstig”, sade talesmannen. Han pekade på att euroländer har vidtagit ett antal positiva åtgärder och att obligationsauktioner för Italien och Spanien mottogs väl av marknaden.

Nedgraderingen tar inte heller hänsyn till att euroländerna är på väg att sänka sina budgetunderskott ned mot 3-procentsgränsen enligt överenskomna tidtabeller.

Däremot finns inget manöverutrymme för ökade budgetstimulanser för de flesta EU-länderna, sade han. Åtgärder för att stödja tillväxt och jobb bör inriktas på andra reformer, som arbetsmarknaden, detaljhandeln och energimarknaden.

Olivier Baily ville inte spekulera i om kreditvärderingsinstitut nu kommer att nedgradera kreditbetyget för den tillfälliga nödfonden EFSF.
