STOCKHOLM (Direkt) Amerikanska AAA-värderade statsobligationer är satta under bevakning och riskerar nedgradering.

Det skriver Moody’s i ett pressmeddelande som inkom sent under onsdag kväll.

Anledningen är att institutet ser en ökad risk att kongressen inte kan enas om ett gemensamt budgetförslag vilket i så fall kommer att få USA att ställa in sina betalningar.

Finansiella institut med direkt länk till den amerikanska regeringen har också fått sina värderingar satta under bevakning. Det rör sig om Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the Federal Home Loan Banks och the Federal Farm Credit Bank.

Även värdepapper uppbackade av regeringen eller något av dessa institut riskerar nedgradering.
