STOCKHOLM (Direkt) Frankrikes finansminister Christine Lagarde har utsetts till
ny chef för den Internationella valutafonden, IMF.

Det skriver IMF i ett pressmeddelande rapporterar Bloomberg News.

“Jag skulle vilja tacka IMF:s medlemmar för det breda stöd jag fått. Mitt
övergripande mål kommer att bli att institutionen fortsätter tjäna samtliga
medlemmar med samma fokus och anda som den gjorde under den ekonomiska krisen”,
sade Christine Lagarde i en skriftlig kommentar.

Christine Lagardes femårsförordnande löper från och med den 5 juli.

“Den omedelbara uppgiften blir att ta itu med de skuldtyngda ekonomierna i
Europa och slutfasen av den ekonomiska krisen. Den andra stora uppgiften är den
om institutionens legitimitet. De flesta anser att de uppgörelser som gjorts om
röststyrka och representation inte är tillräckliga”, sade Edwin Truman, ekonom
och forskare på Peterson Institute for International Economics i Washington till
Bloomberg News.
