Hedgefonder har tagit stora korta positioner i pundet

Göteborg (FinWire) – Lyxors hedgefondsindex sjönk med 0,1 procent under sjudagarsperioden 3 till 10 februari. Hittills i år noteras däremot en uppgång med 0,9 procent och det är framför allt CTA-strategier som gått starkt med en uppgång på 3,1 procent. Det framgår av den senaste rapporten från Lyxor.

Även Global Macro-fonder har gått starkt och är upp 2,6 procent hittills i år. Under den senaste rapporterade veckan noterades dock en nedgång med 0,2 procent.

Vidare framgår det att hedgefonderna positionerat sig för att pundet ska försvagas ytterligare mot dollarn. Tillsammans med japanska yenen och euron är pundet den valuta som kortas mest aggressivt av hedgefonder inom CTA och Global Macro.

Bakgrunden är att Bank of England tagit bort golvet för sin styrränta samtidigt som inflationen i Storbritannien fortsatt är på en historiskt låg nivå.
