BOE vice-chefen Paul Tucker dras in i Barclays-härvan

STOCKHOLM (Direkt) Bank of Englands vice-chef Paul Tucker kan komma att kallas till parlamentets finansutskott för att ge sin version av ett telefonsamtal med Barclays vd Robert Diamond rörande bankens manipulation av interbankräntan, Libor.

Det rapporterar Bloomberg News.

George Mudie och Andy Love, ledamöter för oppositionspartiet Labour i
finansutskottet som ska fråga ut Robert Diamond i dag, uppgav att Paul Tucker också bör frågas ut. Paul Tucker drogs in i härvan efter att Barclays offentliggjort ett dokument från 2008 av ett samtal som påstås visa att Paul Tucker, som då var centralbankens marknadschef, antyder att banken kan sänka sin Liborränta.

“Det ser inte bra ut. Det solkar ner Tuckers fläckfria image. Frågan är, kan de bevisa det?”, sade Stewart Robertson, chefekonom vid Aviva Investors i London, till Bloomberg News.
