Sector Zen förlorade mark i augusti

Powering Hedge Funds

Stockholm (HedgeNordic) – Den norskförvaltade Japanhedgefonden Sector Zen hade – liksom övriga marknaden – en stökig resa i augusti. Fonden tappade -2,7%, vilket trots allt var en kraftig överavkastning jämfört med japanska börsen.

Det var inte mycket Zen-buddism i marknaden under sensommaren. Den japanska marknaden backade rejält under månaden, med en nedgång för Nikkei 225 på -8,2%. Volatiliteten globalt var hög, amerikanska S&P 500 tappade t.ex. mer än 11% under sex handelsdagar.

För Sector Zen verkar ändå strategin ha fungerat – den långa delen av portföljen bidrog negativt med -4,7% (dvs +3,5% vs. index), medan den korta sidan bidrog positivt med 2%, vilket gav ett negativt netto på -2,7% under månaden. Det skriver ansvarige förvaltaren Trond Hermansen (bild) i det senaste månadsbrevet.

Hittills under året är dock avkastningen positiv, +2,8% per den sista augusti. Under senaste 12 månaderna har fonden stigit +6,6%. Genomsnittlig historisk årlig avkastning är 10,6%, till en standardavvikelse på 14,2%. Sharp-kvoten för fonden är 0,7.
