Göteborg (FinWire) – Weavering Capitals grundare Magnus Peterson, svensk medborgare och boende i England, dömdes på måndagen för bedrägeri. Bakgrunden är kollapsen av fonden 2009.

Hedgefonden hade som mest 600 miljoner dollar i förvaltat kapital men kom att under 2009 kollapsa då handel mellan fonden och ett offshorebolag som stod under Petersons kontroll upptäcktes.

Serious Fraud Office, den engelska motsvarigheten till Ekobrottsmyndigheten, hävdar att Peterson under en sexårsperiod vilselett investerare och skyfflat pengar mellan fonden och offshorebolaget för att blåsa upp värdet på fonden. Något Peterson lär ha belönat sig själv för med 9 miljoner dollar under en fyraårsperiod, uppger Dealbook. Straff kommer att tillkännages den 23 januari.
