Råvaror: Rekordstor nedgång för guldet

Stockholm (HedgeFonder.nu) – Goldman sänker rekommendationen och George Soros har tappat tron på råvaran som en säker placering.

Guldpriset rasade 9 procent under måndagens handel  – det största raset, räknat i procent, på över 30 år, skriver Bloomberg News som citeras av Realtid.

Raset innebär att guldpriset på måndagen var nere på sin lägsta nivå sedan april 2011. Vid stängning var priset nere på 1,347 dollar per uns. Prisraset fick en rejäl fart redan i fredags då det sjönk med runt 4 procent.

Under hösten noterades det rekordöga priser 1,900 dollar per uns på guld. Men sedan årsskiftet har priset rasat 19 procent, skriver Bloomberg som citerar Standard & Poor’s GSCI Spot Index.

Den tröga tillväxten i Kina och oro inför att Cypern kan tvingas sälja sin guldreserv uppges som orsaker till det kraftiga fallet under måndagen.

En expert på terminer på Citigroup, som Bloomberg har talat med, spår att guldpriset kommer att sjunka ytterligare och falla till 1,310 dollar per uns i juni.

Hedgefondgurun och miljardären George Soros sålde 55 procent av sin andel i SPDR gold fund under fjärde kvartalet 2012.

– Guld är inte längre en ”fristad” efter att priset föll i takt med att euron närmades sig en kollaps förra året, sade George Soros i en intervju med South China Morning Post i förra veckan, rapporterar Bloomberg News.

Goldman Sachs sänkte sin rekommendation för guldpriset på måndagen till 1,530 dollar per uns på tre månaders sikt, och till 1,390 dollar uns från 1,550 dollar på ett års sikt.
