Aegon AM Launches Capital Call Finance Fund

Aegon Asset Management has launched the Aegon Capital Call Finance Fund, providing institutional investors with access to the capital call finance market – a niche, short-duration lending strategy that supports private market funds in bridging the gap between capital commitments and deployment. Structured as an evergreen Reserved Alternative Investment Fund (RAIF), the fund offers liquidity terms that match the short-term profile of its underlying loan portfolio.

Aegon Asset Management, the investment arm of the Dutch-founded insurer Aegon, offers a broad range of alternative fixed-income strategies. Launched with multiple third-party clients, the Aegon Capital Call Finance Fund builds on the firm’s established expertise in this space. Aegon AM’s alternative fixed-income platform comprises 60 investment professionals managing €84 billion in assets. The new fund is managed by a dedicated six-member Fund Finance team based in Europe, with support from the firm’s global Private Equity, Leveraged Finance, and Research teams. Since 2018, the Fund Finance team has deployed over €4 billion across more than 100 fund finance transactions.

“Capital Call facilities continue to be an important financing tool for private market funds. These credit facilities enable fund managers to bridge capital needs before calling down fund commitments from Limited Partners (LPs),” explains Bas Kragten, Head of Fund Finance and Infrastructure Debt at Aegon AM. “Backed by our strong track record and first mover advantage, the launch of the Aegon Capital Call Finance Fund draws on this opportunity by offering investors access to a new asset class alongside market-leading co-investors.”

Structured as a Luxembourg-domiciled Reserved Alternative Investment Fund (RAIF), the Aegon Capital Call Finance Fund aims to deliver strong risk-adjusted returns, combining an investment-grade risk profile with short maturity. The fund launched with three initial seed clients. “We are delighted to announce the launch of our Capital Call Finance Fund with three initial clients, demonstrating our strategic priority to expand our Alternative Fixed Income platform as we leverage our scale and long-standing expertise to create innovative solutions for our growing client base,” says Erik den Hertog, Head of Client Group Continental Europe at Aegon AM.
