Danish boutique Fenja Capital, which specializes in providing tailored financing solutions to listed micro-, small- and mid-cap companies in a market-neutral setting, has strengthened its Aalborg-based investment team with the appointment of Sonni Damgaard as Investment Manager. While Fenja Capital and its two investment vehicles have so far focused on financing companies across the Nordic region, Damgaard will be responsible for sourcing, executing and managing investments across the rest of Europe, marking a step in the firm’s geographical expansion.

“We are strengthening the investment team at Fenja Capital and are pleased to welcome Sonni Damgaard as Investment Manager,” the team at Fenja Capital announces. “Sonni will have a central role in identifying, implementing and managing investments across Europe. The appointment is an important step in our ambition to expand and strengthen our investment activities outside the Nordic region.”

Damgaard joins Fenja Capital from Lind Invest, where he was part of the investment team. His previous experience also includes a role as an investment analyst at KIRKBI A/S, focusing on equities, and as an assistant equity analyst at Jyske Bank. He holds a master’s degree in economics from Aarhus University.

Damgaard took up his new position on November 1. “I have already had a really good start here in Aalborg and have been warmly welcomed by my new colleagues,” he says. “I look forward to the assignments ahead and to building relationships with companies, advisers and investors across Europe.”

Fenja Capital, which also has an office in Stockholm, provides tailored financing solutions to listed micro-, small- and mid-cap companies through its two market-neutral funds, Fenja Capital I and Fenja Capital II. The first focuses on shorter-term transactions, while the second provides financing with maturities of at least six months. Since its inception in late 2015, Fenja Capital I has delivered an annualized return of 5.2 percent, while Fenja Capital II has generated an annualized return of 10.3 percent since launching in the second half of 2018. Together, the two vehicles manage DKK 971 million, or €130 million, in net assets.
