P+ Promotes Newly Hired Jasper Riis to CIO

Stockholm (HedgeNordic) – Jasper Riis, who recently joined P+, Pensionskassen for Akademikere as the Head of Liquid Investments in March, has now been promoted to the role of Chief Investment Officer. He takes over from Kåre Hahn Michelsen, who has joined the executive board of P+ and will assume the position of CEO when the long-serving CEO, Søren Kolbye Sørensen, retires on October 1.

“The transition to this role was not planned when I accepted my current position, but I am eagerly looking forward to taking on this responsibility,” comments Jasper Riis. “P+ is an exciting workplace that is currently in a strong position. Personally, I get a lot of energy from helping manage the pension savings of so many individuals, especially now that we are offering members to switch to a more modern pension scheme at a market rate, providing them with greater freedom of choice.”

“The transition to this role was not planned when I accepted my current position, but I am eagerly looking forward to taking on this responsibility.”

Riis has been employed as the Head of Liquid Investments at P+ for just over three months. He joined P+ from Danske Bank Asset Management, where he led the Quant and Overlay team responsible for managing Danske Bank’s quantitative-based equity strategies, equity and derivatives-based hedge fund strategies, and equity index products. This team oversees the management of two hedge funds that are part of the Nordic Hedge Index: Danske Invest Global Alternative Opportunities Fund and Danske Invest Global Cross Asset Volatility. Prior to joining Danske Bank Asset Management, Riis served as the Head of Fixed Income and Portfolio Implementation at Velliv. He also worked at ATP for almost nine years, first as a Portfolio Manager and then as Head of Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities. He also worked at Maj Invest, Deutsche Bank, SEB, and Jyske Bank.

“Jasper has many years of experience in both the financial world and pension industry and has worked across asset classes,” says Kåre Hahn Michelsen. “I am convinced that he has a good understanding of what it takes to manage a portfolio and is well prepared to lead the investment department,” he continues. “The past three months have shown that we work well together and agree on where to put the energy and priorities when making important decisions.” Søren Kolbye Sørensen, the soon-to-be-retired CEO, is delighted that a new chief investment officer has been found internally at P+. “I find Jasper to be extremely qualified and have formed a very positive impression of him during his time here at P+,” says Sørensen.
