Stockholm (HedgeNordic) – Ivan Larsen, a long-time small-cap-focused portfolio manager at Danske Bank Asset Management, earlier this year announced plans to launch a long-only European small-cap fund under the umbrella of St. Petri Capital, the manager of long/short equity fund St. Petri L/S. With St. Petri European Small Cap Fund ready to launch in September, St. Petri Capital of Michal Danielewicz and Jens Larsson is also working on the launch of a long-only micro cap-focused fund by the end of 2022.
Set to launch in September, St. Petri European Small Cap Fund will be managed by recently-announced partner and portfolio manager Ivan Larsen and investment analyst Johann Grøndahl (pictured). The duo will employ a bottom-up approach to build a portfolio of 30 to 50 investments in companies within the European small-cap space. “We are very excited to launch Ivan Larsen’s European Small Cap Fund in September, and will update you with more details about the launch very soon,” St. Petri Capital announces on LinkedIn. “We are very pleased about that and expect to start raising money for the fund on September 5th,” comments Larsen.

St. Petri Capital is also working on the launch of St. Petri Angel Fund, a pure-play micro-cap fund following a similar thematic investment approach used by St. Petri L/S. The St. Petri founding duo, Jens Larsson and Michal Danielewicz, will manage the micro-cap-focused fund alongside investment analyst Ellen Askerud. The team will combine thematic investing and stock picking to make investments in 25-30 companies across 8 to 10 themes.
Larsson and Danielewicz, thematic investors for over 25 years, launched their long/short equity fund – St. Petri L/S – in March 2018. The duo seeks to capture investable themes – driven by long-term structural changes – by building and maintaining a portfolio of about 25 carefully-selected long positions and 25 short positions. St. Petri L/S, the best performing Nordic hedge fund of 2020 with an annual return of 98 percent, has delivered an annualized return of 15.1 percent since inception through the end of July 2022.
