Stockholm (HedgeNordic) – Refinitiv Lipper has unveiled the winners of the 2022 Refinitiv Lipper Fund Awards for the Nordic countries, with two members of the Nordic Hedge Index featuring among the winners. Nordea’s Alpha 10 MA Fund picks up two prizes and Rhenman Healthcare Equity L/S takes the top spot in the “Alternative Long/Short Equity Global” category.

There were 3,717 funds eligible for a Refinitiv Lipper Fund Award in the Nordics, with the universe for the Nordic fund awards being composed of funds with a sales registration in at least one country out of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The winners of the Refinitiv Lipper Fund Awards are based on the Lipper Leader rating for Consistent Return over the three-, five-, and ten-year periods. The calculation methodology seeks to ensure that the winners of the Refinitiv Lipper Fund Awards are funds delivering relatively superior consistency and risk-adjusted returns compared to a group of similar funds.

“These fund awards are unique in that they are the only ones based entirely on objective, quantitative criteria, recognising exceptional outperformance on a risk-adjusted basis relative to a fund’s peers,” says Detlef Glow, Refinitiv Lipper’s head of research, Europe, Middle East and Africa. “There is no bias and no nomination process. Each award is based entirely on quantitative analysis.”

Nordea’s Alpha 10 MA Fund, which uses a multi-asset approach to capture both traditional and non-traditional risk-premia return drivers, was named the Lipper Fund Award winner in the “Absolute Return EUR Low” category over the three- and five-year periods. Alpha 10 MA Fund is one of the three Alpha products managed by Nordea’s multi-asset investment team headed by Asbjørn Trolle Hansen. Nordea’s Alpha family – comprised of Alpha 7 MA Fund, Alpha 10 MA Fund and Alpha 15 MA Fund – all share the same investment approach but exhibit different risk-return profiles. The three-fund family oversees a little over €10 billion in assets under management as of the end of March.

Rhenman Healthcare Equity L/S won the Lipper Fund Award for the “Alternative Long/Short Equity Global” category over the three-year period. The healthcare-focused, long-biased long/short equity fund, managed by a portfolio management team of three led by Henrik Rhenman and Susanna Urdmark, has generated an annualized return of 17.9 percent since launching in mid-2009 through the end of March this year. Rhenman Healthcare Equity L/S oversees more than $1 billion in assets under management as of March.
