Stock-picking boutique ALCUR Fonder has announced three new appointments across its investment, trading, and compliance functions. Isak Lenholm joins the investment team with a primary focus on the lower-risk hedge fund ALCUR Classic, while Milan Simonovic joins as a trader. Mikael Hallberg has been appointed Chief Compliance Officer as the Stockholm-based boutique brings its compliance function in-house.
“ALCUR Fonder continues to strengthen the organization. We are very pleased to welcome three new colleagues to ALCUR Fonder: Isak Lenholm, Milan Simonovic and Mikael Hallberg,” the firm announces. “Three recruitments that in various ways strengthen our management, trading and internal control and thus create further conditions for ALCUR Fonder to continue to develop.”

After five and a half years at Carnegie Fonder, most recently as a portfolio manager focused on small- and micro-cap companies, Lenholm joins ALCUR Fonder’s investment team and will primarily focus on managing ALCUR Classic. He also has previous experience covering large-cap and international companies. The appointment follows the promotion of Per Flöstrand to Chief Investment Officer earlier this year. Flöstrand was previously part of the team managing ALCUR Classic before taking over the CIO role from co-founder and long-time CIO Johan Klevby.
Simonovic, meanwhile, joins ALCUR Fonder after three and a half years at SEB, where he worked with and was responsible for the bank’s algorithmic trading and trade monitoring. Educated at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, he will be responsible for trading the funds’ assets as well as developing the boutique’s trading systems.
The third appointment strengthens ALCUR Fonder’s internal control functions. Hallberg has been appointed Chief Compliance Officer, bringing a law degree from Uppsala University and experience leading compliance functions at major banks and asset management firms. With Hallberg joining, ALCUR Fonder will now manage its compliance function internally rather than outsourcing it. Its previous outsourcing partner, Harvest Advokatbyrå, will continue to work with the firm as a legal adviser.
ALCUR Fonder runs two hedge funds included in the Nordic Hedge Index: ALCUR Classic and ALCUR Select. ALCUR Classic, the boutique’s low-net long/short equity fund, is approaching the SEK 10 billion mark, with SEK 9.6 billion in assets under management at the end of June. That is more than double the SEK 4.5 billion level recorded at the end of 2021. The higher-risk, higher-return long/short equity strategy ALCUR Select had approximately SEK 4.6 billion in assets at the midpoint of the year.
