Long-time director Hans Martin Johnsrud has assumed the dual role of Head of Investor Relations and CEO at Sector Capital, an internal company responsible for sales and investor relations for investment teams on the Norwegian hedge fund platform Sector Asset Management. He succeeds André Vatsgar, who has moved on to become Head of Fixed Income and Research at Sparebank 1 Forsikring AS.

Sector Asset Management operates a multi-boutique model, where independent teams manager their own strategies under the Sector umbrella while leveraging the firm’s centralized operational and risk support. Since its founding in 1999, Sector has established a reputation for being an early backer of talented portfolio managers and for building boutique strategies within its platform. Today, five investment teams operate under Sector’s platform, serving investors from 18 countries and managing approximately $3.5 billion in assets.

“He did an excellent job for Sector. My priority will be to maintain our strong relationships with both our investment teams and institutional partners while building on this foundation.”

Hans Martin Johnsrud has been working as an investor relations director at Sector Asset Management for almost 13 years. For the past eight and a half years, he worked closely with outgoing CEO Vatsgar, who he credits with making significant contributions to the firm’s growth. “He did an excellent job for Sector,” notes Johnsrud. “My priority will be to maintain our strong relationships with both our investment teams and institutional partners while building on this foundation.”

Sector Asset Management partners with five independent teams, including two hedge fund managers. One team follows a classic Ben Graham-style long/short value approach, concentrating on overlooked segments of the Japanese equity market, while the other employs a short-focused low-net strategy. Sector’s long/short equity vehicle, the Sector Zen Fund, was honored as the Best Nordic Hedge Fund (Overall) at the 2024 Nordic Hedge Award, additionally taking home the award for Best Nordic Equity Hedge Fund.
