Nowo to Take Over Redgård’s World Allocation xFund

Powering Hedge Funds

The fund management arm of Nowonomics, a digital savings platform, will take over the management of the World Allocation xFund on June 1, 2025. Managed by trend-following specialist Martin Redgård, the fund employs a long-only strategy, utilizing a quantitative short-term trend-following approach in equities. This transition aims to strengthen Nowo’s existing fund offering available to its 165,000 members.

“The fact that we are now moving forward with expanding and complementing our fund company’s offering beyond Nowo Global Fund with another fund gives us even better opportunities to give our members more investment options and thus meet the various management needs of our large member base,” says Rutger Selin, CEO of Nowo. “Our goal is to offer solutions within pension advice and pension savings so that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has the chance to get their best pension.”

World Allocation xFund is one of several funds managed by Martin Redgård, former CIO of the US-based CTA manager Taaffeite Capital Management. Unlike Redgård’s other funds, which follow a long/short investment approach, World Allocation xFund employs a long-only strategy, combining short-term trend following and mean reversion to capture momentum across a globally diversified stock portfolio.

Designed as a ‘equity beta’ alternative, the fund employs a purely quantitative approach to select stocks based solely on price data. As a short-term trend-following strategy with trailing stop losses, its cash allocation fluctuates depending on market conditions. When trends among individual stocks weaken, the fund reallocates its available cash to bonds, seeking to preserve capital and enhance returns until more attractive equity opportunities arise.

While Nowo Fund Management will assume control of World Allocation xFund from AIFM Capital on June 1, 2025, Martin Redgård will continue managing the fund in its new home. After delivering a 19.1 percent gain in 2024, the fund has slipped into negative territory this year, down 6.1 percent following a challenging March across financial markets. World Allocation xFund currently manages approximately SEK 60 million in assets.
