Stockholm (HedgeNordic) – Two of Mandatum Asset Management (MAM)’s alternative vehicles held their first closes at the end of September to raise a combined €233 million. Mandatum AM Private Debt V held its first close on about €149 million in client commitments, while Mandatum AM European Real Estate III held its first close on approximately €84 million.
Mandatum AM’s private debt vehicle focuses on direct lending and opportunistic credit investments across Europe and the United States, primarily through externally managed funds. “With 15 years of experience and three billion euros in private debt funds, Mandatum has deep expertise in this asset class,” comments Claes Siegfrids, Head of International Clients at Mandatum Asset Management. “We are a leading provider in our local markets in the private debt asset class among professional investors, and we are excited to bring this capability and expertise to our international clients.”
The real estate vehicle primarily relies on externally managed funds to make European real estate investments. “European Real Estate III allows our clients to diversify their real estate holdings outside of the Nordics,” says Jussi Tanninen (pictured), Head of Private Debt and Real Estate at Mandatum Asset Management. “Many investors are still in the early stages of investing in real estate overseas, even though geographical diversification in equities, for example, has been active for decades,” he continues. “As with our prior real estate investments, responsibility also plays a key role in all our investment decisions.”
