Stockholm (HedgeNordic) – Founded by Michal Danielewicz and Jens Larsson back in 2017, thematic-focused St. Petri Capital has recently found a bigger office on the same Sankt Peders street in Copenhagen to accommodate a larger team of seven. The team expansion comes as its thematic-focused equity fund, which topped last year’s performance charts with a full-year return of 98 percent, has reached its three-year anniversary.

“We are seven people now. We hired two communication associates, Carla Larsson and Karoline Danielewicz, who will help us with communication, especially on social media platforms, and will also help us upgrade our website,” Danielewicz tells HedgeNordic. “What is also quite interesting and important is that we hired two analysts who are currently finishing their last year at the Copenhagen Busines School,” continues Danielewicz, who launched St. Petri L/S in early 2018 with Jens Larsson.

“This is how both Jens and I started our careers as students,” says Danielewicz. “They are very talented, dedicated, and interested in our industry and St. Petri,” he adds. “We have high hopes that they will be on a steep learning curve.” The two young analysts, Ellen Sif Askerud and Johann Grøndahl, “will focus on covering themes, researching and analyzing themes, and will also have some sector- and company-specific responsibility,” according to Danielewicz. “For us, it is important to engage in early stages with people who have a high desire to join our industry,” emphasizes Danielewicz. “That is a good dynamic for us, we are very happy, and the new analysts look forward to the new journey.”

St. Petri Capital has also hired a more senior employee responsible for client relations and ESG development.“We have hired Henrik Dahlin, who has an academic background in International Development. Dahlin is going to implement ESG procedures that will both heighten the quality of the fund and the way we incorporate ESG factors into our portfolio,” says Danielewicz. “At the same time, he is also going to be a client manager for St. Petri.” Dahlin spent 12 years at Nordea within investment advisory services. “We are delighted with the hire and look forward to our cooperation.”

Michal Danielewicz and Jens Larsson, thematic investors for over 25 years, managed to achieve an annualized return of 29.2 percent since launching the Europe-focused fundamental equity long/short fund in early 2018. The fund, which maintains a portfolio of 50 carefully-selected positions – 25 positions on the long side and 25 positions on the short side – to capture between ten to 15 investable themes, was last year’s best-performing player in the Nordic hedge fund universe.
