Rhenman ökar andel storbolag efter tapp i augusti

Stockholm (HedgeNordic) – Rhenman Healthcare Equity L/S, den svenska hedgefonden som fokuserar på hälso- och sjukvårdsbolag, tappade 11 procent i basvalutan euro under augusti månad. Detta enligt fondens månadsbrev.

I en kommentar konstaterar förvaltningsansvarige Henrik Rhenman (bild) att fonden hade en bister utveckling med få glädjeämnen. Den volatila marknadsmiljön, med oron för Kina i fokus, bidrog till att bolag inom hälso- och sjukvård samt bioteknik sjönk kraftigt. Rhenman anser dock att fallet varit mer tekniskt drivet snarare än orsakat av en inbromsning i världskonjunkturen. Exempelvis pekar han på att bolag inom bioteknik, vars exponering mot Kina är relativt låg, utvecklades sämre än börsen som helhet.

Som ett resultat av marknadsoron har Rhenman ökat andelen stora bolag i portföljen vilka nu utgör cirka 2/3 av fonden. Fonden har vidare ökat sina innehav i bolag inom managed care, en sektor som påverkas positivt av fusionsaktivitet och som dessutom uppvisar flera exempel på låg värdering enligt Henrik Rhenman.

Rhenman anser nu att många bolag inom hälso- och sjukvård befinner sig på översålda nivåer och att en rad bolag bland fondens innehav handlas till låg värdering i förhållande till vinstmultiplar, i synnerhet mot bakgrund av låga räntor och lågt konjunkturberoende.

Trots nedgången i augusti är Rhenman Healthcare Equity L/S upp 20,4 procent sedan årsskiftet i fondens basvaluta euro.
