The Economist: Mongoliet hetaste marknaden 2013

This year’s Alternative Fixed Income report from HedgeNordic explores how institutional investors and asset managers are navigating this new reality, balancing yield and resilience amid shifting credit cycles, structural change, and evolving sources of return.

Stockholm (HedgeFonder.nu) – Redan i april 2012 skrev HedgeFonder.nu en artikel om den växande ekonomin i Mongoliet och fondförvaltaren FMGs nya fond inriktad på den marknaden. Vi lyfte fram det som många hävdar är en av de mest spännande så kallade New Frontier-marknaderna, med bland annat stora råvarufyndigheter.

Men så märkte vi under måndagen att denna nio månader gamla artikel helt plötsligt återigen fångade intresset hos ett stort antal läsare. Varför detta uppvaknade intresse för Mongoliet, frågade vi oss och konstaterade att en av de tyngsta ekonomiska tidskrifterna – The Economist – lyfter fram landet som det mest spännande inför 2013 vad gäller BNP-tillväxt, något som SvD Näringsliv refererar till i en artikel på måndagen. Därför väljer vi att återigen lyfta fram vår artikel från april.

Argumentet är detsamma som vi valde att lyfta fram redan i april, det vill säga den mäktiga grannen Kina kommer att vara en viktig drivkraft för landet i och med sin stora konsumtion av råvaror för att tillgodose behoven inom industrin.

Fonden är en högriskinvestering – det får man vara medveten om vid investeringar i avlägsna regioner som dessa – och volatiliteten kommer med stor sannolikhet vara högre än världsindex. Något som inte minst manifesteras av resultatet för fonden under 2012: -22,7%. Men får man tro The Economist så är Mongoliets stund i rampljuset kommen.

2. Macao +13,5 procent

3. Libyen +12,2 procent

4. Kina +8,6 procent

5. Bhutan +8,5 procent

6. Östtimor +8,3 procent
