Stockholm (HedgeFonder.nu) – Den före detta förvaltaren på Hochfeld Capital Management, Berton Hochfeld, erkände sig skyldig till bland annat värdepappersbedrägeri relaterade till ett investeringsprogram, enligt amerikanska åklagare. Det rapporterar Bloomberg News.

Den 66-årige Berton Hochfeld, som förvaltade lilla Hepplewhite Fund, med ett kapital om 6 miljoner USD, erkände under ett förhör häromdagen inför den amerikanska distriktsdomaren Paul Crotty, att han stulit mer än 1 miljon USD från investerare. Detta enligt ett uttalande från åklagaren Preet Bhararas < kontor på Manhattan.

Åklagaren säger att Hochfeld tog ut pengarna från fonden för sitt eget personliga bruk. Han berättade att fondens värde felaktigt blåstes upp i de falska månatliga rapporterna som förvaltaren skickade ut till sina investerare för att dölja sina uttag. Han berättade på ett möte med investerare i oktober att han spenderat pengarna på antikviteter och semester, enligt myndigheterna.

Som en del av en överenskommelse med myndigheterna, accepterade Hochfeld att pengarna han stal förverkas, samt att återbetala pengarna till sina offer för bedrägerierna. Domen är beräknad att meddelas den 27 juni.
