STOCKHOLM (Direkt) Den japanska yenen är övervärderad från ett medellångt perspektiv.

Det skriver Internationella valutafonden, IMF, i en rapport om Japan, uppger Bloomberg News.

IMF välkomnar Bank of Japans inflationsmål på 1 procent, men räknar med att inflationen kommer att förbli låg under lång tid. Först 2017 väntas Japan nå sitt inflationsmål.

Enligt IMF har den penningpolitiska lättnaden bidragit till Japans återhämtning, men enbart penningpolitik kan inte besegra deflationen. Med en ännu lättare penningpolitik skulle prismålet kunna nås till 2014, enligt IMF, som anser att BOJ har utrymme att utvidga sina tillgångsköp avsevärt.

Japans första prioritet bör vara att genomföra en skattereform och en
socialförsäkringsreform. Momsen skulle exempelvis kunna höjas till minst 15 procent, enligt IMF.

Riskerna mot Japans ekonomiska utsikter har växlat till nedsidan på grund av problemen i Europa.
