Bitcoin-Focused Anna Secures Full AIFM License

Anna Asset Management, which runs a momentum-driven strategy focused on Bitcoin futures, has been granted a full license as an alternative investment fund manager (AIFM) by the Norwegian financial regulator. The upgrade from its previous status as a registered AIFM marks a significant step forward for the Norwegian trio behind Anna Fund – opening the door to international investors, lifting regulatory limits on assets under management, and paving the way for a more institutional-grade setup through enhanced compliance and reporting standards.

“We have been granted a license to manage alternative investment funds, allowing us to continue the growth of Anna Fund both in Norway and internationally,” announces Ole Christian Wendel, CEO of Anna Asset Management and one of the firm’s three co-founders. “Anna Asset Management is the first manager in the digital asset space to receive an AIFM license in Norway.” Anna Fund, which currently manages approximately €27 million, was the top-performing fund in the Nordic Hedge Index in 2024, delivering a return of 144 percent.

The license granted by the Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway (FSAN) will allow the team behind Anna Fund to move its domicile from Norway to Malta. “Malta offers a favorable regulatory framework for digital assets, along with well-established and highly competent service providers for the industry,” explains Wendel. “The new structure will secure lower costs, reduced structural risk, and higher compliance standards for our investors.” Starting in June, Anna Fund will be set up as a Notified Alternative Investment Fund (NAIF), organized as a Société d’Investissement à Capital Variable (SICAV).

Launched in mid-2023 by a trio of Norwegian friends, Anna Fund runs a momentum-driven strategy that trades exclusively in Bitcoin futures, relying solely on historical price and volume data. The strategy is built on the premise that, in the absence of traditional valuation metrics, Bitcoin investors tend to trade based on price action. By identifying and capitalizing on bullish and bearish momentum patterns, the team seeks to capture trends in one of the world’s most volatile asset classes.
