Danske Strengthens Quant & Overlay Team with Goldman Sachs Hire

Danske Bank Asset Management has strengthened its Quant & Overlay team with the appointment of Jonas Bovbjerg as portfolio manager, following an 11-year career at Goldman Sachs. Bovbjerg’s arrival adds another former Goldman Sachs professional to a team that has increasingly drawn on the investment bank’s Nordic talent pool. He follows Thomas Gade, who joined Danske Bank Asset Management in 2023 and became Head of Quant & Overlay after almost a decade at Goldman Sachs.

Bovbjerg announced the move on LinkedIn, marking the end of what he described as an “incredible 11-year journey” at Goldman Sachs, spanning multiple teams and geographies. “Today I join Danske Bank Asset Management as a Portfolio Manager in the Quant & Overlay team,” he wrote. Reflecting on his time at Goldman Sachs, Bovbjerg said he was grateful for the “friendships, stories, opportunities and challenges” that had shaped his career, adding that he was now looking forward to “learning from new colleagues, expanding my skill set even further and continuing to work closely with clients in my new role.”

“Today I join Danske Bank Asset Management as a Portfolio Manager in the Quant & Overlay team.”

The Quant & Overlay team manages Danske Bank Asset Management’s quantitative equity strategies, equity and derivatives-based hedge fund strategies, and equity index products. The team manages several hedge funds included in the Nordic Hedge Index. Danske Bank’s Global Alternative Opportunities Fund manages €882 million and seeks to capture alternative risk premia across multiple asset classes, while Danske Invest Global Cross Asset Volatility manages €820 million and targets volatility risk premia embedded across equities, fixed income, credit and currencies.

Bovbjerg joins a team with several links to Goldman Sachs, most notably through Gade, who joined Danske Bank Asset Management after spending close to ten years in Goldman Sachs’ Nordic institutional solutions group. Gade’s move also reunited him with Thomas Otbo, CIO of Danske Bank’s asset management business, who had recruited Gade to Goldman Sachs in 2013.
