Archipelago Adds Firepower After Back-to-Back Strong Years

Archipelago Investments is strengthening its investment team with the appointment of Anders Fagerlund as Senior Analyst and Head of Research. Bringing 15 years of experience as a senior fund manager at AMF Fonder, Fagerlund joins Anders Palmqvist and Magnus Angenfelt in managing the firm’s flagship long/short equity strategy, Chelonia Select.

Fagerlund has spent the past decade and a half at AMF Fonder, applying a value-driven investment philosophy closely aligned with Chelonia Select’s approach. Prior to transitioning to the buy side, he built over ten years of experience at UBS Investment Bank, where he served as an Executive Director and top-ranked sell-side analyst covering the European capital goods sector. His move to Archipelago also marks a professional reunion with Palmqvist, with whom he previously worked at UBS.

“I am personally thrilled to welcome Anders to the team. Having worked closely with him for over 10 years at UBS, I have seen firsthand his exceptional analytical depth and integrity,” says Anders Palmqvist, Managing Partner and CIO. “He is a stock-picker in the truest sense. His ability to ignore market noise and focus on fundamental value creation is perfectly aligned with the concentrated, high-conviction strategy we run in our fund, Chelonia Select.”

The appointment comes as Chelonia Select builds on two strong years of performance following its transition from a market-neutral strategy to a more long-biased approach in 2024. The fund delivered a return of 16.7 percent in 2025, following its strongest year on record in 2024, when it gained 21.6 percent. The strategy centers on identifying Growth at a Reasonable Price (GARP) opportunities among companies with durable competitive advantages, and Fagerlund’s addition is expected to further reinforce the investment process.

“Having Fagerlund join us is a tremendous asset. His deep expertise in the large and diversified capital goods sector and his valuation-first mindset perfectly complement our strategy,” comments portfolio manager Magnus Angenfelt. “At a time when passive indexing, like a rising tide, lifts all boats regardless of quality, Anders’ experience in identifying structural losers and undervalued winners will be beneficial to Chelonia Select’s alpha generation.”

“Archipelago Investments’ focus on fundamental analysis and its value and GARP-focused investment process is the ideal environment for my style of investing.”

Fagerlund, for his part, sees a strong alignment between his own investment philosophy and that of Archipelago. “Archipelago Investments’ focus on fundamental analysis and its value and GARP-focused investment process is the ideal environment for my style of investing,” he says. “I look forward to working with Magnus Angenfelt, and Anders Palmqvist yet again, and contributing to the continued success of the Chelonia Select fund.”
