Pasi Havia to Invest in Megatrend-Driven Stocks at United Bankers

After departing Helsinki Capital Partners (HCP) in late 2025 following more than a decade at the boutique, portfolio manager Pasi Havia is now joining United Bankers to run the newly launched megatrends-focused equity fund, UB Megatrends. Structured as an alternative investment fund, the fund will maintain a concentrated portfolio of 10 to 20 companies positioned to benefit from long-term, structural megatrends.

“The greatest investment opportunities arise when the world changes permanently. Megatrends shape capital flows, technological development, and business models for years ahead,” says Pasi Havia. “At the same time, they determine which companies will succeed and which will fall behind.” UB Megatrends, he explains, seeks to identify companies that do not merely adapt to change but stand at its center and benefit from it economically. “The goal is to invest in a select number of the very best companies that are building the future and creating long-term shareholder value.”

During his time at HCP, Havia’s primary responsibility was overseeing HCP Quant, which he managed from its launch in mid-2014. In recent years, he also focused on the management of concentrated long-only equity fund HCP Focus. Although most of his investment career has been grounded in systematic investing and a value-oriented investment approach, his experience managing HCP Focus provided direct exposure to investing in high-growth companies driven by powerful megatrends. In addition to his asset management background, Havia has more than a decade of experience from the IT sector, having held senior roles including Chief Technology Officer, software designer, and software architect at companies such as Nokia, Microcell, and MyOrigo.

Havia officially joins United Bankers as portfolio manager on January 15, assuming full responsibility for managing UB Megatrends. The fund is unconstrained by geography, sector, or company size, and its deliberately concentrated structure sets it apart from traditional equity strategies. Under normal market conditions, the portfolio will comprise approximately 10 to 20 holdings, reflecting a high-conviction approach focused on identifying the strongest beneficiaries of global megatrends.
