Formuepleje Appoints Rasmus Cederholm as New CIO

Powering Hedge Funds

Stockholm (HedgeNordic) – Danish asset manager Formuepleje has announced the appointment of Rasmus Cederholm as its new Chief Investment Officer (CIO), effective from September. Cederholm, who previously served as CIO at AP Pension for two years, will succeed Henrik Franck, who departed Formuepleje at the end of May. Cederholm will also join the asset manager’s investment committee, which is responsible for the overall investment strategy and asset allocation.

“Rasmus has extensive experience and deep insight into asset management, and has demonstrated his ability to build and lead some of the country’s best investment departments,” comments Peter Kjærgaard, Formuepleje’s CEO. “He possesses a strategic overview and a high level of financial expertise. I am certain that both Formuepleje and our many customers will greatly benefit from that,” Kjærgaard continues. Kjærgaard also highlighted Cederholm’s ability to navigate volatile and evolving markets, adding that “these are skills in demand at the moment, and I am incredibly happy that he agreed to become part of our team.”

“With Rasmus on board, we have assembled a particularly strong team in the investment area.”

Rasmus Cederholm (pictured) has been serving as CIO of AT Pension since May 2021 following his role as Head of Equities since late 2017. Prior to joining the Danish pension fund, he served as a senior portfolio manager at Nykredit’s asset management arm for seven and a half years. He joined Nykredit after its acquisition of AMBER Fondsmaeglerselskab, an asset management boutique he co-founded in 2007. Before that, he worked at Gudme Raaschou Asset Management for six and a half years, holding positions as a portfolio manager and assistant portfolio manager.

“I had a fantastic time at AP Pension, where I was allowed to lay out the investment strategy for DKK 175 billion and build a really strong team,” Cederholm reflects on his transition from AP Pension to Formuepleje as CIO. “Formuepleje has embarked on a remarkable boost to the business with new owners, management, and a strong new strategy,” he continues. “This is a unique opportunity, and I look forward to building on the strong foundation that has already been established. I look forward to combining my passion for investment with closer customer contact and the development of robust financial products at one of the country’s leading asset managers, where I see huge potential.”

In April, Formuepleje announced the creation of a new equity team under the leadership of Morten Gregersen, who co-founded AMBER Fondsmaeglerselskab with Rasmus Cederholm in 2007. This equity team, in collaboration with Formuepleje’s existing expertise and external managers, forms the investment team that Rasmus Cederholm will lead. “With Rasmus on board, we have assembled a particularly strong team in the investment area. With the great skills we already have and the new ones coming in, we are ready to raise the level of ambition across the investment platform and deliver even better results for investors,” says Peter Kjærgaard.
