Stockholm (HedgeNordic) – Activist investor Accendo Capital has appointed its long-serving partner Kai Tavakka as Managing Partner to manage and develop the asset manager’s business operations. With Tavakka responsible for the managing partner role at Accendo, founder Henri Österlund and senior partner Mark H. Shay can completely focus their time and efforts on managing Accendo’s concetrated portfolio and engaging with the underlying investments.

“With the growth of Accendo Capital, we are strengthening our organization,” comments Founding Partner Henri Österlund, who launched activist fund Accendo Capital in early 2008. “Kai has demonstrated his ability to lead operations and to develop our strategy further,” adds Österlund. “The appointment enables Mark Shay and myself to give increased focus on the investment management of the Accendo Capital fund.”

“Accendo Capital has evolved considerably since I joined ten years ago, and I am humbled and excited to take on the role of Managing Partner.”

Accendo Capital invests in listed small-cap companies in the Nordic region to create shareholder value through active ownership. The fund, which oversees €223 million in assets under management as of the end of September, has a particular focus on companies driving or benefitting from technological innovation. Kai Tavakka joined Accendo in November 2012 as an associate and was promoted to partner in January 2015. He currently serves on the boards of directors of Accendo’s portfolio holdings Careium and SSH Communications Security, and has been involved in Accendo’s ongoing work with portfolio holdings such as Remedy Entertainment, Hexatronic Group and Impact Coatings.

“Accendo Capital has evolved considerably since I joined ten years ago, and I am humbled and excited to take on the role of Managing Partner,” comments freshly-appointed Managing Partner Kai Tavakka. “I intend to ensure with Henri and Mark our business continues to develop successfully with value creation to our fund investors as the top priority.” Tavakka will also join the board of directors of the investment manager Accendo Capital Management Limited.
